" There are lead guitarists and there are lead guitarists - but Angus Young is Something else again .
He bounds on the stage in school uniform , complete with cap and satchel , stamping his tiny bare legs as he picks out the opening chords . He 's 16 and looks 13 . with an enthusiastic innocence that makes you want to put his head .
Further into the set and he has turned into a holly terror . Pitching himself relentlessly round the stage and contorting his face horribly , his mouth fonming and his tongue lolling and dribbling at anyone who happens to catch his eye .
Young is the axeman with ACDC . An Aussie band out to conquer Britain Signs are they 'll succeed if their Week-end onslaught of Hammersmith is anything to go by .
At the Red Cow on friday , Young proved that despite everything , he really can play tight, exciting rock and roll .
He shares the limelight with vocalist Bon Scott while Malcolm Young ( guitar ), Mark Evans ( bass ) and Phill Rudd ( drums ) concentrate on laying down a solid foundation .
Scott is possessed of unlimited sex appeal and a gritty voice that becomes suitably dirty .
The high spot of the act is " it's a long way to the top " , the current single featuring Scott on bagpipes .Also noteworthy is a frenzied version of " baby , please Don't go " during which the convulsing Young is carried through the audience .
ACDC bring Entertainment , decadence and good , sweaty fun back into rock and roll .
C.C. "
